The 2026 Junior/Senior Formal was radiant with joyful upperclassmen and elaborate decorations. The theme, Masquerade, was fully realized through elegant candelabras, draped veils of lace, and red roses against a beautifully rustic backdrop. The location, 701 Whaley St, is well-known for sophisticated weddings and receptions, and this event was no less extravagant.
Groups of students streamed in, taking photos together and posing with a variety of available party masks. Although the focus of the night was for the juniors and seniors, a plethora of plus ones were brought to create a night full of laughter, celebration, and bittersweet reflection.
Student Body President Trey Shoars opened the evening with prayer, and then the night was kicked off with delicious foods and party music. Shrimp, cheese rolls, cheesecake, fruit, and a charcuterie spread were just the beginning!
David Stone, a junior said, “the music is great!”
As the DJ played crowd favorites, the line dancing started. It was time for senioritis to be thrown out the window and replaced with recognition of the wonderful college friends who had been journeying together for years. For some, this meant speaking intentionally on the sidelines or stepping into the quiet evening air, while others seldom left the dance floor!
Student Life Coordinator Joel Baumgarten said this Junior/Senior Formal was unique in its “extremely imaginative decorations,” and that “the DJ knew exactly what the students wanted while keeping the energy high.”
It truly was a night to remember for the juniors and seniors as they wrap up their chapter at CIU and prepare for their future and beyond!
