The Master of Arts in Chaplaincy program at Columbia International University equips you with the skills and knowledge to minister effectively in diverse professional environments. This program prepares you to serve as a chaplain in organizations, businesses, healthcare facilities, and other institutions where chaplains play a vital role in providing emotional and spiritual care.
As a chaplain, you will have the unique opportunity to support individuals in their workplaces, where they spend 30% to 40% of their lives. You will be trained to offer pastoral care, comfort, encouragement, and spiritual guidance, helping employees navigate personal and professional challenges. With ten functional areas to choose from, you can specialize in the area that aligns with your passion and calling. No matter your focus, you will develop a strong foundation in chaplaincy, allowing you to build meaningful relationships, foster spiritual well-being, and make a lasting impact on the lives of those you serve.

In this course, you will explore and defend hermeneutical principles and processes based on evangelical presuppositions of Scripture and authorial intended meaning. You will apply an exegetical method to interpret Old and New Testament passages from a variety of biblical genres and apply them to contemporary settings.
In this course, you will examine the foundational principles of spiritual formation for an effective life and ministry with emphasis on personal sanctification and growth with others in a mutually-edifying community.
In this course, you will explore the various types of chaplaincy ministry, including their commonalities, distinctives, and expectations. You will develop a comprehensive theology of chaplaincy and create a plan to employ it in your own ministry setting.
