Markus Klausli, Ph.D., is Professor of New Testament and Greek at Columbia International University, where he equips students to read, understand, and teach God’s Word with both academic rigor and pastoral sensitivity. Whether guiding students through Greek grammar, New Testament theology, or biblical interpretation, he is passionate about helping future ministry leaders engage Scripture deeply and communicate it faithfully in diverse cultural contexts.
Drawing from decades of teaching, ministry, and leadership experience in both the United States and Germany, Dr. Klausli brings a global perspective to the classroom. Before joining Columbia Biblical Seminary, he taught and served in multiple leadership roles at CIU’s European School for Culture and Theology in Korntal, Germany, including Acting Dean and Professor. His international experience, coupled with years of service in local church ministry and missions, enables him to help students connect biblical truth with real-world ministry challenges.
At CIU, Dr. Klausli teaches courses in New Testament studies, Greek, hermeneutics, the Gospels, and biblical theology. Students in his classes can expect to be challenged to think carefully, interpret Scripture responsibly, and develop the skills needed for lifelong ministry and discipleship. He particularly enjoys helping students see how the New Testament speaks to both the church’s mission and everyday Christian living.
Dr. Klausli earned his Ph.D. and S.T.M. from Dallas Theological Seminary and his M.Div. from Columbia International University. His scholarly work focuses on the New Testament, especially the letters of Peter, biblical theology, and hermeneutics. He has contributed to academic books and journals, presented research at national theological conferences, and continues to serve as a dissertation advisor and mentor for graduate students.
Outside the classroom, Dr. Klausli remains actively involved in church ministry and currently serves as an assisting priest in the Anglican tradition. He values opportunities to teach, preach, and disciple believers in the local church. His desire is that students leave his classroom with a greater love for Scripture, a deeper understanding of God’s truth, and the confidence to lead and serve faithfully wherever God calls them.
