Columbia International University’s Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Educational Leadership is an ideal choice for educators who desire to advance to the position of principal in South Carolina public schools.
Graduates of the program are prepared for initial state principal licensure recommendation in South Carolina for elementary grades (PK–8) and secondary grades (7-12).
In the certification document, The CIU College of Education noted:
“For those seeking to enter the field of educational administration, Columbia International University offers students an excellent choice for those seeking a deeper understanding of leadership principles, human resources, finance and budget, supervision of instruction and teaching on the modalities of learning. Students will be instructed in the latest trends and developments in educational administration as they prepare for a satisfying and rewarding career. The program can also provide knowledge and prepare candidates for educational advocacy and oversight positions.”
For those applying for South Carolina State Licensure, the students will need to pass Praxis 5412 Educational Leadership: Administration and Supervision, complete the 30-hour M.Ed. Educational Leadership program plus an additional six hours of internship in a public school.
Dr. Debbie Moore, the director of the Master of Education program says that while the M.Ed. in Educational Leadership assists in obtaining the needed certification to be a principal in South Carolina, it also benefits those seeking leadership positions in Christian, private and international schools.
“We educate students from a biblical worldview so they can impact the nations with the message of Christ,” said Moore referencing CIU’s mission statement. “And this way, educators in public school are going to have a larger impact in the role that God has called them to serve. We already have a strong program. This is an additional support we can give our educators.”
The M.Ed. in Educational Leadership is offered fully online. That means educators can balance their studies with professional and personal commitments while preparing for leadership roles. It’s designed for completion in just 18 months!
