On an unusually balmy day in March, the esteemed professors of Columbia International University patiently waited outside the cafeteria for students to smash plates of whipped cream on their faces. Their whipped cream coated hair and faces were a contrast to the black plastic used to protect their clothes, as they waited for the next incoming pie.
The Pie-a-Prof diaper drive was organized by the Rams for Life club as a fundraiser and a way for students to take revenge on their professors. The event was organized by Rams for Life member Kendall Brookins and Philosophy Professor Dr. Jonathan Reibsamen.
Students passing by could pay to smash a plate of whipped cream into the face of a professor of their choice. All proceeds from the event benefited a local pro-life organization that assists expecting mothers.
Rams for Life made their debut this semester as the newest Student Government club on campus. Jen Mynhier, the president and founder of Rams for Life said that “it is a branch of Students for Life of America. Their mission is to recruit, train and mobilize the pro-life generation to abolish abortion.”
Rams for Life Vice President Braxton Claypool, said it was great to see the involvement of the professors.
“The event was a lot of fun and will make a huge impact by providing supplies for new mothers,” Claypool said.
One of the professors who volunteered to be pied was Physics and Chemistry Professor Dr. Chris Jones, who said he volunteered to be pied because “it’s for a great cause. Anything to support those who help pregnancy centers.”
Despite Jones’ enthusiasm, Old Testament Seminary Professor Dr. Ben Noonan received the most pies to the face and raised the most money that will go toward the diapers.
