Columbia International University alumnus Tom Mason is excited to serve as pastor of First Evangelical Free Church in Boone, Iowa. It is the historic nature of the church that he loves. It has been around for 150 years, making it the oldest Evangelical Free Church in North America.
Mason earned his degree in Biblical Studies from CIU in 1988. Since then he has served as a missionary in Sweden and Austria, and as a pastor at churches in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Florida and Iowa.
In describing the ministry of his historic church, Mason told the Boone News-Republican newspaper: “We’re trying to lead people to Christ and know Him in a relationship through what he did on the cross, and help them grow in their spiritual life,” he said. “We’re not trying to emphasize simply just knowledge, but that heart walk relationship with the Lord.”
