U.S. News & World Report: CIU ranks high for Social Mobility, Value
September 13, 2021
The 2022 U.S. News & World Report rankings show Columbia International University in the Top 10 for Social Mobility among Regional Universities South.
The Social Mobility ranking is important for students who are economically disadvantaged and less likely to finish college. The survey indicates CIU is among the best in making sure these students succeed.
CIU is also ranked a Best Value for Regional Universities South at #11.
This calculation considers a school's academic quality and the net cost of attendance for a student who received the average level of need-based financial aid. The higher the quality of the program and the lower the cost, the better the deal.
Meanwhile, CIU climbed in the rankings for Regional Universities South, coming in at #38, up four positions from the 2021 survey. Other ranking South Carolina universities include Anderson University at #44, Charleston Southern at #57 and North Greenville at #70.
CIU Provost Dr. James Lanpher says the rankings show CIU’s solid academic reputation, and great economic value, is being noticed.
“It’s also great to be recognized for helping people coming from disadvantaged backgrounds to advance in their careers and their lives,” Lanpher said. “This is one of the great benefits of a CIU education.”
