Public administration is an in-demand field. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that employment in management occupations is forecast to grow 5% over the next eight years, creating over 500,000 jobs, driven by the establishment of new organizations and expansion of existing ones, which will require more workers to manage these operations.

With a median annual wage of over $109,000, one of those jobs could be yours! So, now is the time to consider a Master’s in Public Administration (MPA) from Columbia International University.

Public Administration encompasses an array of political and financial operations that serve the public interest, enacting policy change and program intervention in areas such as government, healthcare, education and environmental services.

CIU’s MPA Program Director Dr. Tara Phelps-Jones says this new online program provides working adult students with the opportunity to complete a graduate degree in 15 months, preparing graduates to lead and serve for the common good.

“An MPA prepares students for leadership and management positions in governmental agencies at the federal, state, or local levels as well as businesses, higher education, nonprofit organizations and ministries,” Phelps-Jones said. “Knowledge of public sector theories and application taught in the program enhances the student’s qualifications for employment.”

Courses include Public Policy Foundation and Analysis, Public Budgeting and Financial Management, and Leadership and Ethical Behavior in Public Service.

“These courses are taught by professionals who work in diverse fields,” said Phelps-Jones who is herself an inspector general with the U.S. Army’s Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command (SDDC), serving as the commanding general’s confidential advisor on matters affecting the Department of Defense.
