Introducing the Business and Career Development Center; New workshops and programs in Fall 2024

Dr. Amy Dubois is the dean of the Cook School of Business at CIU.

August 8, 2024

The CIU Cook School of Business launched the Business and Career Development Center (BCDC), a new initiative based on three pillars: entrepreneurship, employment and mentoring. The goal is to increase and expand access to high-quality training workshops and programs that will assist students, alumni, and the community in starting their own companies, pursuing their dream job in today’s high-demanding fields, or in connect with mentors/coaches to grow personally and professionally.

The BCDC is committed to strengthening the connection between faith and work, ensuring the next generation is building the skills necessary to start their career. This includes:

  • Expanding access to a startup incubator/accelerator
  • Skills-based learning and training pathways
  • Internship opportunities
  • and more to come!

Every BCDC offering will be presented from a biblical worldview and be covered in prayer. In addition to providing practical training and support, we are most excited about the opportunity to continue CIU’s tradition of impacting the nations with the message of Christ as we work to serve our students, alumni, and community

The BCDC team is excited to run its first Entrepreneurship Program and Employment Readiness Workshops. These sessions will bring together top facilitators and students from all CIU programs. The best 10 startup ideas will become part of our first Incubation Cohort!

Fellows will receive access to skills development, mentorship, investment readiness training, and connections with relevant impact investors. We will also have a curated database of internship and full-time work opportunities for our career-readiness participants. Fall sessions will be held in person. Future cohorts will have hybrid options.

Please join us in helping our community maximize their personal and professional skills to succeed and be sure to visit our brand new BCDC spaces at the Jones Center and the Library!
