Over 20 employers gathered on the lawn of The Quad for the spring Career Fair at Columbia International University. Representatives from businesses, ministries and nonprofits chatted with students about the benefits of their organizations and accepted students’ resumes.

Jen Johnson, assistant dean of student life and one of the organizers of the event, said employers are specifically looking to hire CIU students.

“To be able to not only see open opportunities but also make face-to-face connections makes jobs more human … to make a great connection,” Johnson said. “It helps our employers who love our CIU students to really get to know (them) and explain about their jobs and opportunities."

CIU Interim President Dr. Rick Christman was on hand noting the variety of quality exhibitors such as CEEUS, a  provider of utility supplies and services for electric cooperatives.

“As a student, now you know that First Community Bank is here, and that CEEUS is here, and that Grace Community Academy is here, and Chick-fil-A is here,” Christman said. (The students) are getting a chance to interact and you learn details about organizations that you didn't know before.”

Other employers on hand included Aflac, the U.S Forest Service, TMC Transportation Company, The Lexington County Blowfish baseball team, and a number of Christian schools and Christian camps.

Local Chick-fil-A franchisee John Lawrence noted the positive work ethic of CIU students. As a matter of fact, he used to be one.

“CIU has the highest concentration of character and talent that I've seen in all my recruiting efforts,” Lawrence said. “As an alumnus, I love being able to continue to invest in CIU students and watch them grow into leaders and world changers.”

CIU is celebrating 100 years of its mission to “educate people from a biblical worldview to impact the nations with the message of Christ.” The university consistently ranks among the Top Regional Universities in the South by U.S. News & World Report, as well as a Best Value Regional University in the South. Apply now or request information on enrollment by contacting Admissions at (803) 807-5024 or admissions@ciu.edu.
