CIU Commencement Featured "Flying" Graduate

If an award were given out at the 2010 Columbia International University commencement for longest travel distance for a commuter student, Joyce Hoffman would have probably won. Hoffman, 69, who earned a master's degree in biblical studies, commuted weekly to CIU via air from her home in West Palm Beach, Fla.

Hoffman's commitment caught the attention of "The State" newspaper in Columbia.
