The application process for international students requires additional documentation to be considered for admission to CIU. We encourage you to begin the application process early.
If English is not your first language, you must take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) exam. The TOEFL is administered through the American Consular Office. Our TOEFL code is 5116. The required TOEFL scores are listed below.
Undergraduate Scores Graduate Scores
70 on iBT (online) exam 79 on iBT (online) exam, or 100 for MA TEFL
195 on the computer-based exam 213 on computer-based exam, or 250 for MA TEFL

For your academic transcripts, you will also need to provide an International Credential Advancement Package (ICAP) evaluation by World Education Services (WES). All academic records not written in English must be accompanied by a certified English translation. You must also complete the educational background form to confirm your education.
International students will need financial certification, as required by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service. Complete the international financial certification of funds form and include a statement from your bank that certifies the funds listed. After you’ve been accepted to CIU, you must send your enrollment deposit to receive an I-20 to obtain your visa.
An international student enrollment counselor is available to answer questions you have and to help you transition to campus. The International Student Booklet PDF download is available to help you become familiar with CIU.
