As the fall winds begin to blow across the Midlands of South Carolina, Columbia International University students gather annually to celebrate in the cooler weather with the Fall Fiesta! Louise French, a sophomore calls it “the best event of the year.”
As the late October sun set over campus, students made their way down to the CIU lake and pavilion by walking a path dimly lit by tea lights, or alternatively, by an exciting hayride! Once they arrived, they enjoyed free food catered by Moe’s, and joined in a variety of fall festivities, including fellowship by a bonfire, making smore’s, pumpkin painting, pumpkin carving and henna.
After the delicious Mexican cuisine and apple cider, students gathered in the center of the pavilion for a time of dancing! Smiles and shouts of joy filled the evening fall air as they danced to a mix of English and Spanish songs, some beloved classics, some new.
The students were having so much fun that the event lasted much longer than planned, as they celebrated the new season with friends and classmates.
