CIU men’s golf clinched its third consecutive National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) South Region Championship, pulling away from the field at Goshen Plantation Golf Course in Augusta, Georgia, with a 14-stroke victory.
Braydon Hileman led the Rams in the final round with a 2-over-par 74 to finish tied for fourth overall. Nate Caughman and Luke Hammond each carded a 75 (+3), with Caughman finishing the tournament as the individual runner-up and Hammond joining Hileman in fourth. Andrew Haarlow rounded out CIU’s team scoring with a solid 76, while Santos Espinosa added an 81.
After a long Round One in extremely difficult conditions, Head Coach Major McWhorter said the Rams were able to bounce back in Round Two.
“Very proud of how our team fought when things didn’t go our way,” McWhorter said. “We are learning about ourselves each week and are hitting our stride as we head into a busy October.”
