Description

The head strength and conditioning coach is responsible for the development and management of individual and group strength training programs for men and women student athletes participating in the intercollegiate athletics program.

Responsibilities

  • Enables men and women student athletes to perform to their physical potential in their sport through the development and management of individual and group weight, strength and fitness training programs; develops programs by evaluating current physical conditioning, having knowledge of the various sports and associated exercises, tailoring strength programs for specific needs, demonstrating proper performance of exercises, correcting mistakes; manages programs by monitoring progress and providing an assessment of development.
  • Collaborates closely with the athletic training staff and sport coaches to design and implement performance programs that enhance athletic readiness while addressing individual risk factors to help prevent injuries.
  • Promotes a positive image of the intercollegiate athletics program and the University by participating in community and professional organizations, representing the University at professional meetings and on community committees.
  • Abides by and complies with NAIA, NCCAA and AAC rules, academic standards, requirements, and policies of the university, and all guidelines and policies of the Athletics department and reports any concerns of compromise or violation of rules, standards, guidelines or policies to the Director of Athletics or Associate Director of Athletics for Compliance.
  • Contributes to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.
  • Contributes to the overall success of the University’s intercollegiate athletics program by performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Excellent communication skills, supervisory and management skills are required. The ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds is required.
  • Scope of position requires the ability to perform and/or demonstrate various physical strength exercises, and to assist other performing those exercises.
  • Requires frequent evening work and occasional out-of-town, overnight travel.
  • Ability to supervise assistant coaches, grad assistants, student workers.
  • Success college coaching experience.
  • Demonstrated Christian ministry experiences.
  • Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) or Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) through the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCA) required.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
