Description

The Monticello Road campus school nurse supports the physical and emotional health needs of students by providing care for illness and injury and dispensing prescribed daily medications.

Responsibilities

Actively support the mission of Ben Lippen School in the execution of the nursing role and responsibilities.
Work in collaboration with teachers, administration, parents, and outside resources to support student health needs.
Provide medical care for students visiting the health room during school hours.
Manage the healthcare needs of the international boarding students during and outside of school hours.
Comply with state law regarding student immunization requirements.
Purchase medical supplies for the three campuses.
Maintain student medical records.
Maintain and oversee the MR and SAR campus AED’s.
Communicate with parents and teachers of students with acute or chronic health problems (i.e. Type I Diabetes, seizure disorder, recent surgery).
Manage emergency medications (i.e. EpiPens, rescue inhalers).
Prepare first-aid kits for day and overnight field trips.
Educate faculty and staff about pertinent medical issues.

Qualifications

Registered nurse (RN), ADN or BSN, with a current South Carolina nursing license in good standing with the South Carolina Board of Nursing.
Five or more years of RN experience in direct patient care; preferably some experience caring for children and adolescents.
Current healthcare provider CPR and AED certification.
Proficient computer skills.
Good communication skills.
Ability to organize tasks and work independently.
