Description

The maintenance technician performs maintenance duties of a general nature involving the use of carpentry, plumbing, automotive, and electrical skills. The maintenance technician will operate independently on repairs and projects as requested by supervisor.

Responsibilities

Perform maintenance tasks.
Troubleshoot and repair equipment and facilities as requested by supervisor.
Assist in preventive maintenance tasks.
Submit work orders.
Manage workload by prioritizing tasks with input from supervisor.
Performs other tasks as assigned by supervisor.
Periodic emergency maintenance on-call duty.
May be required to work overtime.

Qualifications

General knowledge and good working skills in carpentry, plumbing, and electrical.
Skill in the proper use of hand tools.
Skill in the proper use of power tools.
Skill in the use of shop tools such as table saw, drill press, etc.
Skill in the use of light equipment such as trencher, tamper, etc.
Ability to work under the authority of supervisor as well under the authority of other skilled craftsman.
Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
Ability to lift heavy objects, stoop, crawl, and work in tight, cramped spaces.
Must be able to work independently and without supervision.
Must show initiative in carrying out assigned tasks.
Ability to use a computer or smart phone to access work orders.
One to two years’ practical experience in carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and automotive.
A valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
