Description

The grounds special projects tech applies pesticides and fertilizer, repairs irrigation systems, and oversees a crew of groundskeepers to complete projects.

Responsibilities

Oversee tasks assigned by the Assistant Physical Plant Director
Monitor grounds calendar and apply pesticides and fertilizer as scheduled according to label instructions
Document pesticide applications as required
Troubleshoot and repair irrigation problems
Give direction to groundskeeping crew, assuring that projects are completed in a satisfactory manner
Monitor grounds for issues that need to be addressed and submit work orders
Monitor condition of grounds equipment and submit work orders when repairs are needed
Service and make minor repairs to grounds equipment
Make sure grounds equipment is cleaned and properly stored at the end of the day
Ensure that groundskeepers are using proper PPE and are working in a safe manner
Assist with training groundskeepers
Mowing, blowing, trimming, edging, weeding, mulching

Qualifications

Broad grounds keeping experience
Experience in leading a crew
Must have a driver’s license and clean driving record
Must have experience in operating a wide variety of grounds keeping equipment
Experience repairing irrigation systems desired
Experience applying fertilizer and pesticides
Two years groundskeeping experience required
Must have or be able to secure a South Carolina Certified Pesticide Applicators License
Ongoing training required to meet the requirements of South Carolina Certified Pesticide Applicators License
