Description

The graduate and online enrollment counselor serves as a primary point of contact for prospective students exploring Columbia International University’s undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral online programs. This role guides prospective students from initial inquiry through enrollment by providing personalized advising, timely follow-up, and clear communication about CIU programs, admissions requirements, and student support resources.

The enrollment counselor manages a recruitment pipeline using the university CRM, builds relationships with prospective students and partner organizations, and works collaboratively with faculty and enrollment staff to achieve institutional enrollment goals. This role contributes to CIU’s mission by helping connect students to Christ-centered academic programs that prepare them for lives of service and leadership.

This is an on-site (not remote) position. Regular in-person collaboration with the graduate and online recruitment team and other university departments is required.

Responsibilities

Student Recruitment & Advising

  • Manage a portfolio of prospective students from inquiry through enrollment, providing personalized guidance throughout the admissions process.
  • Conduct phone, text, email, and virtual appointments with prospective students to assess educational goals and recommend appropriate CIU programs.
  • Provide accurate information about program requirements, admissions policies, financial aid, and the student experience in CIU’s online learning environment.
  • Maintain consistent follow-up with prospective students to move them through the enrollment funnel and meet recruitment goals.

 

Enrollment Funnel Management

  • Utilize the university CRM to track student engagement, maintain accurate prospect records, and execute communication campaigns.
  • Monitor application progress and proactively assist applicants in completing required admissions materials.
  • Coordinate with faculty and internal departments regarding application review, admissions decisions, and program-specific requirements.

 

Lead Development & Outreach

  • Contribute to lead generation efforts by cultivating referrals from prospects, applicants, alumni, partner organizations, and ministry networks.
  • Participate in recruitment events such as webinars, virtual information sessions, and partner outreach initiatives.
  • Collaborate with marketing and recruitment leadership to identify emerging recruitment opportunities and improve conversion strategies.

 

Collaboration & Institutional Engagement

  • Work collaboratively with the Graduate and Online Recruitment team, faculty program directors, financial aid staff, and enrollment operations to support prospective students.
  • Provide feedback to leadership regarding recruitment trends, student questions, and opportunities to improve enrollment processes.
  • Participate in professional development and team initiatives that strengthen enrollment strategies.

Qualifications

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to build rapport and guide adult learners through the decision-making process.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Goal-oriented mindset with the ability to meet enrollment targets.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a collaborative team.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems and standard office software (Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Alignment with CIU’s mission and commitment to Christ-centered higher education.
  • Experience in higher education recruitment, enrollment counseling, admissions, or ministry leadership preferred.
  • Experience working with adult, graduate, or online learners desired.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems such as TargetX/Salesforce or similar enrollment platforms a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred.
