Description

The director of university housing provides strategic leadership and administrative oversight for all campus housing operations. This role ensures a safe, inclusive, and supportive living-learning environment for students while aligning housing services with institutional goals. The position involves long-term planning, policy development, financial management, and supervision of housing logistics.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Planning and Leadership
    • Develop and implement housing policies and procedures that support student success and retention.
    • Direct long-term strategic and capital planning for housing facilities and programs.
  • Operational Management
    • Oversee daily operations of residence halls and Pine View Properties while coordinating housing assignments.
    • Ensure compliance with safety, health, and accessibility standards.
  • Financial Oversight
    • Formulate and manage annual operating budgets, including forecasting and resource allocation.
  • Student Engagement 
    • Collaborate with academic, residence life, and student life departments to create living-learning programs.
    • Address students’ concerns and maintain positive relationships with students and parents.
  • Compliance and Risk Management
    • Ensure adherence to university, state, and federal regulations.
    • Develop emergency and disaster response plans.
  • Assessment and Improvement
    • Conduct regular evaluations of housing facilities and services; use data for decision-making.

  • Strong knowledge of housing regulations, safety compliance, and facility maintenance.
  • Experience in budget management and strategic planning.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience with housing management systems (e.g., AppFolio, Jenzabar) preferred.
  • Familiarity with student development theory and its application in residential settings preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience working in a university setting.
  • Master’s degree in higher education administration, student affairs, business administration, or related field.
