Description

The communications and digital media coordinator supports CIU’s strategic communications and digital engagement efforts, offering technical and creative skills to strengthen advancement, alumni, and university communication to a variety of audiences. This role focuses on gathering, editing and preparing stories and communication materials that strengthen audience relations and engagement. The coordinator assists with website updates, email campaigns, and digital asset organization to ensure advancement communications are clear, compelling, and consistent with CIU’s mission and brand.

Responsibilities

Digital Media & Project Management (60%)

  • Collect alumni, donor, faculty and student stories, photos, videos and quotes for advancement, alumni relations and other departments.
  • Maintain and organize a content library (photos, stories, quotes) for use across multiple projects.
  • Curate content for CIU’s alumni and advancement social media channels to support campaigns and key initiatives.
  • Edit and adapt media for use across channels (emails, webpages, digital screens, print materials).
  • Execute email campaigns using mass email platform and report on resulting metrics.

 

Website Communications Coordination (40%)

  • Manage and update content on ciu.edu, including alumni, advancement, history and communication pages.
  • Coordinate with information technology and university communications teams to execute web projects and resolve content-related issues.
  • Build and maintain giving pages in MobileCause to support fundraising initiatives and donor engagement.
  • Support institutional stakeholders in maintaining accurate and effective web content.

Qualifications

  • Strong video editing and digital storytelling skills (Adobe Premiere, Splice, or similar).
  • Understanding of mass email platform and important metrics.
  • Strong writing and editing skills for short-form, audience-focused content.
  • Familiarity with web content management systems (WordPress preferred).
  • Basic graphic design skills (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite).
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Flexibility to work occasional evenings/weekends for Advancement events.
  • One to three years of experience in communications, digital engagement, or project management.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality written content and manage cross-functional projects.
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, digital media, marketing, or related field preferred.
