Description

The Associate Provost serves as a senior academic leader reporting directly to the Provost and provides strategic leadership to support continuous improvement and data-informed decision-making. The Associate Provost oversees institutional accreditation, academic assessment, research compliance, and key academic support units. The Associate Provost collaborates with academic and enrollment leaders to advance the university’s Christian mission, strengthen academic quality, support student success, and manage academic planning and administration.

Responsibilities

Institutional Effectiveness

  • Lead institutional effectiveness planning, implementation, and evaluation efforts.
  • Develop and maintain processes for measuring progress toward strategic goals and institutional priorities.
  • Support evidence-based decision-making through data analysis and reporting.
  • Collaborate with institutional research and academic leaders to establish key performance indicators and outcomes measures.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and organizational learning.

 

Academic Assessment

  • Lead university-wide student learning assessment processes.
  • Ensure systematic assessment of academic programs and co-curricular learning outcomes.
  • Support faculty and academic leaders in developing meaningful assessment practices.
  • Analyze assessment findings and facilitate the use of results for continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate assessment reporting and maintain documentation demonstrating educational effectiveness.

 

Accreditation and Compliance

  • Serve as the university’s primary accreditation liaison with institutional accrediting agencies.
  • Coordinate accreditation reaffirmation processes, compliance reports, site visits, and follow-up activities.
  • Monitor compliance with accrediting standards, federal regulations, and state requirements related to academic programs.
  • Maintain accreditation documentation and evidence repositories.
  • Advise university leadership on accreditation-related issues and emerging requirements.

 

Project Management and Academic Administration Leadership

  • Manage university-wide academic initiatives and strategic projects as assigned by the Provost.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure successful implementation of university initiatives.
  • Monitor and improve academic operations within academic administration and across colleges and schools.
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration among academic and administrative departments.

 

Strategic Leadership and Mission Integration

  • Advise the Provost on issues related to academic quality, effectiveness, accreditation, and operational improvement.
  • Participate in institutional planning and policy development.
  • Promote innovation, excellence, and stewardship throughout academic administration.
  • Support and advance the university’s Christian mission, values, and educational philosophy.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to faith integration in leadership and decision-making.
  • Encourage practices that foster spiritual formation, academic excellence, and service.

 

SUPERVISORY RELATIONSHIPS

 

Library Oversight

  • Provide administrative oversight and support for the University Library and library personnel through direct supervision of the Library Director.
  • Collaborate with the Library Director to ensure library services, resources, collections, and technologies effectively support the university’s academic mission and strategic goals.

 

Institutional Review Board (IRB) Oversight

  • Provide administrative oversight and support for the Institutional Review Board through direct supervision of the IRB Director.

Qualifications

  • Higher education accreditation and compliance
  • Institutional effectiveness and assessment methodologies
  • Project and change management
  • Data analysis and reporting
  • Academic policy development
  • Relationship building and collaboration with faculty, administrators, and external stakeholders
  • Written and oral communication
  • Commitment to Christian higher education
  • Earned doctorate from an accredited institution.
  • Five or more years in higher education administration, academic leadership, or institutional effectiveness.
  • Experience serving as an accreditation liaison or leading accreditation reviews.
