Description

The alumni engagement officer develops and manages alumni engagement efforts that strengthen lifelong relationships between Ben Lippen School and its alumni. This role creates opportunities for alumni to remain connected through events, communications, volunteer service, mentoring, campus involvement, leadership opportunities, and philanthropic support.

The alumni engagement officer supports the development office by increasing alumni engagement, encouraging alumni giving participation, identifying alumni prospects, and stewarding alumni relationships in alignment with advancement goals. Occasional evenings/weekends required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage alumni engagement programs that increase connection, participation, and lifelong relationships with Ben Lippen School.
  • Build and maintain relationships with alumni across generations, including young alumni, international alumni, legacy families, alumni parents, and alumni donors.
  • Increase alumni involvement through campus visits, events, volunteer service, mentoring, chapel participation, classroom speaking, career networking, job shadowing, Winterim involvement, and other school programs.
  • Work with the assistant director of development and the director of development to increase alumni giving participation and support alumni-focused giving initiatives.
  • Help identify alumni prospects for increased engagement, giving, volunteer leadership, and future cultivation.
  • Plan and coordinate alumni events, including homecoming activities, reunions, legacy events, college receptions, senior send-off, alumni recognition events, and other alumni gatherings.
  • Develop and manage class agent, senior transition, alumni council, and alumni volunteer leadership efforts.
  • Work with marketing and communications to support alumni newsletters, social media, website content, engagement emails, alumni stories, recognition, and giving-related communications.
  • Monitor news and social media for alumni milestones and accomplishments, and coordinate appropriate recognition or follow-up.
  • Maintain accurate alumni records, engagement notes, event attendance, giving activity, volunteer involvement, and related metrics.
  • Maintain confidentiality and represent Ben Lippen School with professionalism, integrity, warmth, and commitment to its Christian mission.

Qualifications

  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to build trust and maintain long-term relationships with alumni, donors, parents, students, faculty, staff, and volunteers.
  • Comfort inviting alumni to support the school through engagement, service, leadership, and giving.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Experience planning and executing events.
  • Ability to use data and relationship notes to track engagement, giving, attendance, and follow-up.
  • Professionalism, discretion, sound judgment, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
  • Commitment to Christian education and the mission of Ben Lippen School.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite and major social media platforms, including content creation, scheduling, and engagement strategies.
  • Experience in alumni relations, development, advancement, communications, event planning, nonprofit work, school advancement, ministry, or a relationship-based environment is desirable.
  • Experience with donor databases, CRM systems, email platforms, event registration tools, and project management systems is helpful.
  • Bachelor’s degree and three or more years of related experience preferred.
