Columbia International University hosted its largest ever job fair on campus this fall! Students met with over 30 employers representing businesses, ministries and other organizations. There was something for every student on campus interested in finding a career, part-time job, or internship.
Cynthia Villar Sanchez, the director of CIU’s Business and Career Development Center (BCDC), organized the event ensuring the variety of employers and fostering the authentic relationships that CIU has nurtured with each one.
“What we want is to bring more connections for students to find that job that they’re looking for … and for them to find opportunities for their career until they graduate and beyond,” Villar Sanchez said, expressing her heart for the CIU Cook School of Business to be the “school of business to the world.”
One employer emphasized that they were looking for “adaptable, hard-working young workers with leadership qualities,” while another was looking for “character and a heart for serving other people who go the extra mile as Jesus himself commanded,” while a local church was looking for “young people with a hunger to go into youth ministry.”
A sampling of the employers included: Dominion Energy, First Community Bank, the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED), Christ Classical Academy, Wycliffe Bible Translators, as well as a number of other ministries.
