Shalane Conrads

Shalane Conrads is an English professor at Columbia International University. She loves and appreciates an eclectic assortment of literary genres but heavily favors American literature. Her own research interests center on how literature reflects human identity and expresses our struggle with morality. 

Professor Conrads believes that writing is a process of discovery. She is passionate about encouraging her students to cultivate and take ownership of their own writing voice and style. Her heart is for her students to not only gain proficiency and professionalism in their writing style, but also to realign their relationship with writing itself. Her courses are designed to empower students to engage in great conversations by intentionally connecting classical and modern literature to a biblical worldview while critically investigating issues of morality and the shifting ideologies of secular culture. Professor Conrads seeks to foster a learning environment that constantly reminds students that their true identity is in Christ.

Professor Conrads and her husband, David, have three daughters. She enjoys running with her husband, gardening, and cooking.
