DeVonya Adamu

DeVonya joined the School of Nursing faculty at Columbia International University in 2025 as an Associate Professor, after serving as an adjunct faculty member since 2024. She brings over 19 years of diverse nursing experience, including over five years in nursing leadership, caring for patients across the lifespan in a variety of clinical settings. As a PhD candidate in Nursing Education, DeVonya is committed to integrating biblical principles into nursing pedagogy to cultivate academic integrity, compassionate assessment practices, and Christ-centered excellence. In addition to her work in nursing, God has called her into youth ministry leadership — a role that has deepened her passion for discipleship and equipped her to guide others toward Christ through mentorship, teaching, and everyday service. Her desire to see students not only excel academically but grow spiritually fuels her calling in both education and ministry. Together with her family, DeVonya has hosted several students through the Ben Lippen International Student Program — a ministry that reflects their commitment to hospitality, cross-cultural relationships, and the biblical calling to “welcome the sojourner” (cf. Deuteronomy 10:19). Since 2015, she has been joyfully married to Sanni, and they are the proud parents of three wonderful children — Elyza, Elyse, and Eleojo. Their family life is anchored in weekly fellowship, joyful service, travel adventures, school and community involvement, and cozy evenings watching movies.
