Maintenance Technician I

Description

The purpose of this position is to perform maintenance duties of a general nature involving the use of carpentry, plumbing, automotive, and electrical skills. The maintenance technician will operate independently on repairs and projects as requested by supervisor.             

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance tasks.
  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment and facilities as requested by supervisor.
  • Assist in preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Maintain maintenance logs, reports, and data as needed.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned by supervisor.
  • Maintain emergency call rotation.
  • May be required to work overtime.

 

Qualifications

  • General knowledge and good working skills in carpentry, plumbing, and electrical.
  • Skill in the proper use of hand tools.
  • Skill in the proper use of power tools.
  • Skill in the use of shop tools such as table saw, drill press, etc.
  • Skill in the use of light equipment such as trencher, tamper, etc.
  • Ability to work under the authority of supervisor as well under the authority of other skilled craftsman.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions
  • Ability to lift heavy objects, stoop, crawl, and work in tight, cramped spaces.
  • Must be able to work independently and without supervision.
  • Must show initiative in carrying out assigned tasks.
