An important figure in Christian radio is one of the latest graduates of Columbia International University’s Ph.D. in Organizational Leadership (POL) program.
Michael Shelley walked the stage of CIU’s Shortess Chapel in May to receive his degree. Shelley is a longtime Christian broadcaster, and executive vice president and general manager of NewLife Radio in Griffin, Georgia, just south of Atlanta. Shelley is also a board member of the National Religious Broadcasters (NRB). The NRB is a nonpartisan, international association of Christian communicators whose member organizations represent millions of listeners, viewers, and readers.
In a post on the NRB website, Shelley said his prayer is that what he learned in the POL program can be shared with Christian communicators around the world, particularly the leadership principles that deeply resonated with his biblical worldview, such as the concept of “the steward leader.”
“There’s an understanding that what I am leading ultimately doesn’t belong to me,” Shelley said. “It belongs to God. He has entrusted me to steward all the resources for His good.”
Joe Emert, founder and chairman of NewLife Radio Ministries, said Shelley’s achievement “is a reflection of his striving for excellence in everything he does. I am very proud of what God is doing through him and believe it will equip him with even better tools for effective ministry.”
