Let me take this opportunity to welcome you to the CIU Security Department web page. Our motto is “Our honor to serve, our duty to protect.” It is our honor, because God has placed each one of us here. It is our duty because God has laid that mantle on our shoulders.
CIU Security provides 24/7 coverage with well-trained and dedicated officers. We have the full power and authority of a deputy sheriff and work side by side with both the Richland County Sheriff’s Department and Columbia City Police. We are increasing our training on a regular basis to mirror that of the sheriff’s department and to exceed the standards set by the state of South Carolina.
Our officers are here because God has chosen them to be here. Each one is a dedicated Christian. They take both their relationship with Jesus Christ and their job as a security officer seriously. They are confident and competent, and will not hesitate to put themselves in harm’s way to protect those they serve.
It is a great honor to serve the faculty, staff, students and visitors of CIU and I consider it a great privilege to lead the officers of CIU Security.
