Description

Ben Lippen School is seeking an orchestra teacher to lead the orchestra program under the umbrella of the fine arts department of Ben Lippen School. The teacher will plan instruction, execute lessons, and evaluate student learning in instrumental music while preparing students for performances, festivals, and adjudications. The teacher will assist with additional responsibilities as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Teach middle school and high school orchestra courses and other courses as assigned.
  • Plan for instruction through the regular maintenance of course curriculum maps.
  • Implement assessments in each class to measure student learning and maintain a timely gradebook.
  • Attend faculty meetings and professional development and carry out assigned non-instructional duties.
  • Partner with the fine arts director to plan and execute student performances, festivals, and competitions.
  • Carry out other specific responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

  • A full understanding of the school’s official statement on the victorious Christian life and model the life described therein both on and off campus.
  • A clear understanding of and commitment to the statement of faith and purpose of the school.
  • Evidence of strong organizational, interpersonal, communication, and technological skills.
  • Proficiency in violin, viola, cello and bass.
  • Proficiency in conducting and playing piano.
  • Knowledge of adolescent cognitive development and the ability to instruct students successfully in music curriculum.
  • The ability to inspire learning through effective classroom management and cultivate positive relationships with students.
  • Bachelor’s degree in music or music education from an institution approved by the regional accrediting agency.
