Biography

Dr. Brantlee Taylor is an education professor at Columbia International University who is passionate about the individual student and connecting the process of learning with real-world contexts. Dr. Taylor earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing at the University of South Carolina. She also earned a Master of Education in Instruction and Learning, an Education Specialist degree, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Leadership at Columbia International University.
Dr. Taylor’s academic interests include foundational literacy development and the dynamic of struggling readers on spiritual formation. She is passionate about education from a biblical worldview and is also interested in student motivation inside and outside of the classroom. Dr. Taylor values and encourages the development of steward leaders and is focused on creation-based science education.
At CIU, Dr. Taylor strives to create a secure learning environment where students are inspired to gain confidence in their own growth as learners. She also aims to cultivate awareness for moment-to-moment opportunities for lifelong learning. As a classroom and veteran home educator, Dr. Taylor encourages student engagement, effective communication, and personal commitment as motivators for success.
Brantlee, a lifelong South Carolina native, is married to her husband, Gary. They have two children, Brooks and Blair. Outside the classroom, she enjoys traveling, reading, church and community involvement, and celebrating life with her family.
