CIU is operating under normal conditions.
Decisions on weather-related closings, delays and early dismissals, will be communicated through CIU communications channels in consultation with the provost.
Closing and delay information will be disseminated electronically via CIUAII e-mail, CIU Alert (text message), and this web page. A message will also be posted on the main CIU phone line. The university will notify local news media.
If students and employees DO NOT see or hear a closing, delay, or early dismissal via one of these mediums, they are to assume CIU is open for business as usual.
Closures, delays and early dismissals apply to BOTH students and employees.
Some employees may need to report to work for specific situations. They will be made aware of that need by their supervisor.
Delayed Opening Schedule
If there is a two-hour delay:
Monday, Wednesday, Friday Classes:
Classes begin two hours later and run 45 minutes with 5 minute transition periods:
- 8:00 classes meet 10:00–10:45
- 9:00 classes meet 10:50–11:35
- (No Chapel)
- 10:00 classes meet 11:40–12:25
- 12:00 classes meet 12:30–1:15
- 1:00 classes meet 1:20–2:05
- 2:00 classes meet 2:10–2:55
- 3:00 classes and onward meet as usual; block classes starting at 2:00 just lose 10 minutes.
Tuesday, Thursday Classes:
Reduce first two periods to 50 minutes and drop chapel; the rest is normal.
- 8:00 classes meet 10:00–10:50
- 9:30 classes meet 11:00–11:50
- (No Chapel)
- 12:00 classes and onward are on usual schedule.
If CIU classes begin at Noon:
- Morning classes and Chapel are cancelled.
