An editorial column in The State newspaper in Columbia featured perhaps one of Columbia International University’s most influential alumni in the world of sports.  Adrian Despres, a 1992 graduate of CIU Seminary & School of Ministry, serves as a guest chaplain for the University of South Carolina Gamecocks football team.  Despres, who is also a member of the CIU Board of Trustees, hosted a recent event in Columbia featuring some of the believers on the Gamecocks football team who shared their testimonies and how Christ is a part of their football careers.      

That event caught the attention of columnist Bob McAlister, a public relations specialist who is well-known in the Columbia area.  McAlister was also the chief of staff for former South Carolina Governor David Beasley.  Read his column, “The Other Side of Sports” at:
