A 2012 graduate of the Columbia International University Psychology program has been named to oversee a second office for Sexual Trauma Services of the Midlands (STSM), a nonprofit that meets the needs of the survivors of sexual assault and abuse in the Columbia, S.C. area.
Sarah Collins was hired this year to fill the new position of Community Advocate and Prevention Specialist in Sumter. Collins is a native of Sumter and will spearhead efforts to recruit volunteers who will assist victims of sexual violence at the local hospital and on hotline calls.
STSM is a United Way member agency that provides free services including a 24-hour crisis hotline, hospital accompaniment, personal advocacy, individual and group counseling, and education about sexual trauma services.
