Columbia International University Seminary & School of Missions has won approval from its accrediting agency for a strategic initiative.
The Association of Theological Schools (ATS) has approved the school’s request to expand course offerings at its Atlanta extension site.
The associate dean of CIU Seminary & School of Missions, Dr. John Harvey, says offering more classes at the Atlanta site means students no longer have to travel to Columbia to take their resident courses, providing easier access to classes.
“We are currently offering a limited number of seminary courses in Atlanta in intensive format in January and June,” Harvey said. “We plan to expand gradually over the next few years with an eye to offering weekend courses on a regular basis as well.”
He says ultimately, the goal is to make it possible for students to earn a complete degree through the Atlanta site.
The Atlanta classes of CIU Seminary & School of Missions are held at Evangeline Booth College of the Salvation Army Southeastern Territorial Headquarters. Located 20 minutes from the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, the Continuing Education Center provides state-of-the-art classrooms, WIFI access, guest rooms, and access to both a full-service dining facility and a wellness center.
Students may earn up to one-half of a degree at the Atlanta site. Enrollment is open to anyone meeting the admission requirements of CIU Seminary & School of Missions.
