1939 CIU Alumna Publishes New Book

April 28, 2011

A 1939 alumna of Columbia International University continues to write at age 95.  Catherine Walker’s new book is “Bible Workbook Vol. 2 New Testament.”  It’s a companion to Walker’s “Bible Workbook Vol.1 Old Testament.”

The “Bible Workbooks” are a systematic, individual study of the Bible that challenges readers to think through their understanding of their Bible reading.

Walker earned a Master of Arts degree from CIU, and a D.R.E. from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.  She served as an instructor at the Indonesian Baptist Theological Seminary in Semarang for 26 years. Upon retirement she served as special assistant for intercessory prayer at Foreign Mission Board headquarters. She is also the author of six theological textbooks in the Indonesian language, and has co-authored “Disciples and Prayer Life.”  She lives in Richmond, Va.

Walker is the daughter of Clara Walker, CIU’s first dean of women.  Walker Residence Hall at CIU is named for Clara Walker.
