There’s no doubt that Jud Brooker came to CIU highly qualified for his role as men’s and women’s cross country coach. But his running prowess was displayed April 14 when he won the Palmetto Half Marathon in Columbia – the first half marathon of his career – with a time of 1:14.
“I was pretty happy with my pace,” says Brooker, whose average pace per mile was 5:41. “I had two main goals going into the race. I wanted to break 1:15, and I also wanted to win the race.”
Achieving both of his goals, Brooker deemed the race a success, and thanked the volunteers along the course who made it worth the pain of running 13.1 miles.
