CIU Alumnus Helps Youth Get the “Point” about Servant Leadership

July 16, 2013

Columbia International University alumnus The Rev. Gerald Watford says he likes to teach kids to become self-disciplined and in control of themselves. Watford, who graduated from CIU with a bachelor’s degree in 1992, is family ministries pastor at Northeast United Methodist Church in Columbia. But he also teaches servant leadership to youth in a more unusual way – he’s a fencing instructor.

Watford is also a former highway patrolman, and as a Marine, was a member of President Ronald Reagan’s security team. His background and Christian faith make him desirous to see others lead a disciplined life.
