Arthur NyanforM.Ed. (Educational Administration)

Why did you choose Columbia International University?

I could have chosen any university in the world for graduate studies, but CIU was God’s choice for me. I am both very humbled and sincerely grateful that after rescuing me from a brutal civil war in Liberia, God brought me to the United States where He is preparing me at CIU for future service in Christian education. In my first three years (2005-2008), He helped me complete the MDiv in Academic Ministries and in two years (2009-2011) hopefully, the M.Ed. in Educational Administration. For me personally, CIU is not just any institution of higher learning for the following reasons:

The Admission Process—CIU has made a concerted effort to accommodate me with a full schedule of family life, full-time job, US Army Reserve chaplaincy, local and international civilian ministries responsibilities.

The Christian Community—CIU provides many multicultural and multidenominational services such as the small-groups program, chapel and GradLIFE Ministry which for me are opportunities to share in the Christian community experience (Acts 4:32-37).

The Academic Community—at CIU, faculty performance is far beyond academics and student advisory. Professors at CIU are astoundingly very knowledgeable, approachable and often project a Christ-like image. The curriculum is interdisciplinary, uncompromising and exceptional.

What do you like best about CIU?

I personally like the strong emphasis on learning and applying the original languages of the Bible and the need to have a biblical perspective on education.

What has been your favorite class at CIU and why?

My favorite class at CIU so far is Greek Grammar II because it challenged me to the core.

What do you want to do after graduation from CIU?

I hope God will take me wherever He desires and use me to provide Christian educational services like schools and reading centers to help others who are less fortunate.
