Students normally take their course work at Midlands Tech during their sophomore and junior years or for shorter programs only during their junior year. In four years, they are able to receive an associate's degree or certificate in a technical field from Midlands Tech and a bachelor's degree in Bible and General Studies from CIU.
For students who transfer into CIU with a large number of credit hours, the General Studies program is often the quickest way for them to complete their bachelor's degree. In this way, they can more easily move on to graduate study or the job market.
Yes, students are encouraged to live in the dorms and participate in the campus activities at CIU while they are taking courses at Midlands Tech. So students would pay for their tuition at Midlands Tech and for their room and board at CIU.
Students may take their 18 credit hour concentration at CIU in such areas as: Bible teaching, biblical languages, communication, elementary education, evangelism, family and church education, humanities, intercultural studies, music, pastoral ministries, psychology, theology and youth work.
A number of students are involved in the nursing program at Midlands Tech, but programs are available in a variety of fields including: accounting, business management, commercial graphics, computer technology, criminal justice, dental hygiene, gerontology, information systems networking, legal assistant, marketing, office systems, radiologic technology, respiratory care and telecommunications systems.
