Why did you choose Columbia International University?

After working in East Asia for two years, God affirmed that His path for me long-term is in that certain country. My burden is for discipleship and leadership training of the young educated who have the ability to influence their society. During my journey, God kept putting CIU in my path through missionaries I met. When I went to the website and talked to an admissions representative at Urbana, I knew this was the school for me. The school's motto of head, heart, and hands make a huge impact on me. I want to learn from a school that not only wants to teach the knowledge, but to help us to carve God's Word upon our hearts and to live out our faith. And the masters program "Leadership in Evangelism and Mobilization" was exactly was I was looking for.

What do you like best about CIU?

The humility and grace of its professors. I've never been in such an environment where the professors teach because of a passion for God and live out their lives to care for the students. I love how I can actually get to know them as people and learn from their experiences as well as knowledge. Every class I've had in the first semester have increased my hunger to know more and grow closer to God.

What has been your favorite class at CIU and why?

Every class has been a blessing in its own way. But I would have to say I enjoyed Hermeneutics the most after this first semester. This may seem like an odd answer but the class was like a puzzle that kept challenging me to figure it out. By the end of the semester, the Bible was still the same, but it had taken on a whole other layer I never knew existed before. Every word, every verse was like digging for gold.

What do you want to do after graduation from CIU?

CIU is a steppingstone in my equipping. God willing, I hope to be back on the field in 1.5 years serving where He leads and calls, mostly in leadership and discipleship training. A region so large, the number of souls crying out in confusion and darkness is beyond count.
