Columbia International University professor Matthew D. Haste draws from church leaders of the past to tackle modern-day marriage difficulties in a new book, “Held in Honor – Wisdom for Your Marriage from Voices of the Past.”

Haste, associate professor of Ministry Studies in CIU Seminary & School of Ministry, has co-authored the book with Robert L. Plummer, professor of New Testament Interpretation at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.

“Held in Honor” brings together teachings about marriage written through the Church age, beginning with Church fathers such as Ignatius of Antioch through missionary author Elisabeth Elliot, and includes biblical reflection on each teaching.

“It is written in a devotional format and we hope that it will be an encouragement to many marriages,” Haste said. “We envision it to be something couples could read through together or in a small group and we hope it will be helpful for those preparing for marriage as well.”

The book is published by Christian Focus Publications
