Meet Coach Marshall Tague

CIU Men's Basketball Head Coach Marshall Tague

A coach who led his team to a national championship this season will now head the men's basketball program at Columbia International University.

Marshall Tague (pronounced: TAYG) comes to CIU from Lancaster Bible College in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, where he coached the Chargers to the 2015 National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA), Division 2 National Championship, ending the regular season with a 28-3 record.

Tague took over the Lancaster basketball program in 2012-2013 with a record of 5-21 and over three years improved the overall record to 55-33.

Tague’s proven track record excites CIU Athletics Director Kim Abbott, but she says he brings even more to the CIU program.

“Marshall Tague’s personal qualities and coaching skills will lend to a very successful and unified team,” Abbott said. “He has proven that he can create a positive culture and turn a team around by what he has done at other schools.”

Tague played college basketball at Southwestern College (now Arizona Christian University) in Phoenix where he was on two NCCAA National Championship teams and personally received national and regional athletic and academic awards.

Tague replaces Kyle Mendenhall who, in 2013, coached the first CIU intercollegiate men’s basketball team in the school’s 90-year history.
