A Columbia International University student has found a unique way to combine business with ministry. Laurie Pineda, who is enrolled part time in the Business & Organizational Leadership program, and her husband Hector operate The Northeast Coffee House in Columbia that combines local outreach with cappuccinos that have no set prices.

Laurie, who has a background in real estate and is old enough to be the mother of her classmates, says she “absolutely loves” taking classes at CIU, and has gotten “lots of ideas” from her Operational Management class.
