Columbia International University has received approval from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) to offer up to 100 percent of three master’s degrees and an undergraduate Bible Certificate online. SACS is an accrediting agency.
The online master’s degrees include: Master of Arts (Muslim Studies), Master of Arts (Intercultural Studies) and Master of Education.
CIU Provost Dr. Jim Lanpher says offering degrees online means that people around the world can further their education with a CIU master’s degree while remaining in their current ministry or career.
“People who work in cross-cultural ministries in remote parts of the world, or who have a very busy career and family life right here in the United States now have a way to further their education without leaving their current obligations,” Lanpher said.
The Master of Arts (Muslim Studies) prepares students to research, analyze and engage Muslims in culturally appropriate ways while the Master of Arts (Intercultural Studies) assists professionals who work with various ethnic and cultural groups both in the United States and abroad.
The online Master of Education degree offers two concentrations: Educational Administration or Curriculum and Instruction.
“Christian school educators both in the United States and around the world can now prepare for leadership roles in their field without leaving their schools or taking a leave of absence,” Lanpher said.
The online Bible Certificate is designed for ministry workers and as well as lay ministers. The Certificate lays the foundation of doctrine, principles for the Christian life and a biblical worldview.
