These scholarships are donor supported scholarships. Students must apply individually for these scholarships to be considered for the award. Each scholarship has specific qualifications which are listed below. Please refer to the criteria and only apply for scholarships in which you meet the criteria.
All of the scholarships require you to be a full-time student and to submit a current year FAFSA. The FAFSA is now available online. International students are not required to submit a FAFSA, but may still apply for a donor scholarship providing the other eligibility requirements are met. Should you be awarded a donor scholarship, the funds may replace all or a portion of other institutional aid you have received.
We are no longer accepting applications with the exception of Vance Havner for the 2012-13 academic year. Please check back in January 2013 for the 2013-14 applications.
The Army Chaplaincy Scholarship
- CIU Scholarship
- Must be enrolled in the Seminary & School of Ministry.
- Must be enrolled in the Army's Chaplain Candidate Program.
The Bill Cassels Family Scholarship
- Student must be pursuing a Masters of Divinity degree.
The Kate Schultz Colon Scholarship
- Must show committment to cross-cultural missions outside of North America.
- Preference will be given to a student entering either their junior or senior year in the undergraduate school.
- Preference will be given to a student with financial need due to medical issues within their immediate family.
The Vance Havner Scholarship - due June 1
- The student must be full-time, enrolled in the Undergraduate School, Graduate School or Seminary.
- Scholarships are available to those whose ministry will focus specifically on careers in evangelism and missions. Other worthwhile ministries - for example, counseling or teaching - do not qualify for scholarships unless there is a direct relationship to evangelism or missions.
- The application should be filled out in the PDF, saved, printed and submitted to the Office of Student Financial Services at CIU. PLEASE DO NOT SEND the application to the Vance Havner Scholarship Fund address.

- Please note, if the date pre-filled into the application is incorrect, simply hit "clear form" at the bottom of the application on page six before filling out the application.
The Donald Hoke Scholarship
- Preference given to Seminary students, however, qualified students may be a rising senior.
- Must be committed to vocational Christian service in the missions context.
- Must provide evidence that they have selected a mission agency and are either approved candidates or are in process with a mission agency.
- Qualified students may include international students and missionaries on home assignment.
The Martha Hoke Scholarship
- Preference given to Seminary students, however, qualified students may be a rising senior.
- Must be a female who has ministered or intends to minister in overseas, cross-cultural ministry.
- Must provide evidence that they have selected a mission agency and are either approved candidates or are in process with a mission agency.
- Qualified students may include international students and missionaries on home assignment.
The Samuel C. Howes Scholarship
- Must be enrolled in the undergraduate school.
- Must be either working on or off campus during the school year.
- Must have financial need.
- Must fill out a transcript request form.
The Terry and Jean Hulbert Scholarship
- Must be a male.
- Must be entering third year in the Seminary.
- Must be pursuing a career in missions or Bible teaching.
The Lifesong Scholarship
- Must be enrolled in the undergraduate school.
- Must demonstrate financial need.
- Must be pursuing 'tentmaker' missions.
The Nathan McDaniel Scholarship
- Must demonstrate financial need.
- Must be preparing for a full-time Christian vocation.
- Must be enrolled in the undergraduate school. Preference will be given to students majoring in music.
The David H. Petty Family Scholarship
- Must be a full-time Seminary student.
- Must be pursuing full-time Christian service, with an emphasis on evangelism and/or cross-cultural missions.
The SDSC Scholarship
- Must be a new student to CIU.
- Must be a Chinese student from China, Taiwan or Southeast Asia. However, International students from a Muslim country may be considered.
- Must be a full-time master's level student.
- Must be committed to return, upon graduation, and serve in "full-time ministry" either in their home country or the mission field.
- Student must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.3.
- Student must provide two status reports per year to the donor through the CIU Development Office.
- The scholarship is renewable and is limited to a maximum of three years.
The Marvin R. Schuster Scholarship
- Preference given to students from the greater Columbus, Georgia area (including Alabama).
- Special consideration will be given to students who are current or past employees of a Burger King restaurant in the southeast.
- Special consideration will be given to students who show great potential for future success in Christian ministry.
